How long have you been working with BAW? 37 years in January

What’s your favourite thing about working with BAW? I like being busy, I like getting stuck in and the people I’ve met over the years are wonderful.

How did you get to the position you’re in now? I started in a YTS job, a training role which was a 6 week placement, and I just stayed on ever since. When the last Office Manager retired I took over that position.

What advice would you give to someone wanting to work in this industry? Just to make sure that engineering is your future, we get a lot of apprentices in and that’s where most people in this industry start.

How would your colleagues describe you? I hope they’d describe me as somebody who gets stuck in and is helpful.

How has the industry changed since you started? Well, when I started we had one typewriter and one computer and I used to do everything on the typewriter. So, technology wise, I don’t think there was even a fax machine around when I started, so technology is definitely the main thing!

And what about looking forward to the next 10 years? I’m sure it’s going to change even more, even from last year with all the different teams and zoom. Everything is going online, and you know we’ve never used anything like that. So I think it’s definitely going to keep changing.
